Flow Induced Vibration

Turbulence

Rotating Machinery

Unsteady processes are a common feature of high speed flows, often creating undesirable effects such as excess noise, vibration, forces, and loads. At ASE we use a variety of techniques to identify, isolate, and reduce undesirable conditions. Analytical methods are coupled with laboratory and field tests to solve challenging problems.

This Flow Visualization image using flourescent mini-tufts shows the evolution of turbulent flow leading to separation. Acoustic and Turbulence measurements provide quantitative results to complement the image.
