Static Test Stands

Channels 7 and 12 are cold-flow static thrust stands.  The high pressure dried air from our facility 500 psi storage system is throttled, metered through an ASME long-radius metering nozzle and discharged through the test model to the atmosphere.  A model is supported by a 3-component or 6-component strain gage force balance and is isolated from the facility piping by an elastic seal. The test data obtained from Channel 7 and Channel 12 include: measurements of axial and normal balance forces, model total and static pressures, ambient pressure and the upstream ASME meter pressures and temperature necessary to calculate the flow rate and stream thrust entering the metric portion of a model assembly.
